A *Very* Big Space Opera Read! And even more news.

♦ new release alert! see below! ♦

Boxed sets. Love ’em? Hate ’em? Readers tend to fall into either camp, I’ve found.

I’m a contrarian, myself. I don’t like series boxed sets, because they mess up the organization and archiving of my ebooks. And I like seeing all the covers for each book in the series arrayed on my reader, too.

On the other hand, it’s really hard to argue with the price, and if the publisher has done their work, then all the books are in the boxed set, including the side stories, the prequels, and all the main books.

Then, I think I would unbend and buy the boxed set, but I’d still be unhappy about not having all the covers arrayed nicely.

On the other hand (contrarian, remember?), I like collections of novels in one print edition volume. Actually, I like collections of anything in one print volume — short stories, novelettes, novellas and novels. I think it harks back to reading all three of The Lord of the Rings novels in one massive 1,000 page omnibus, which was my first introduction to fantasy and to that series, way back when I was a kid. I liked the heavy weight of the book in my hands.

However, I rarely read print anymore (not even in magazines). But I know there are many readers who still do.

So.

In a couple of weeks’ time, I’m releasing The Indigo Reports boxed series set, and throughout the pre-order period, it’s sharply discounted.

And I’m trying something new with this set release: I’m also releasing it in a single print edition.

The print edition is a massive 800+ pages. Not quite up there with The Lord of the Rings, but close. And it is also nudging the page count upper limit for print editions here and now.

The print edition is not quite available yet, but will be in a week or so. If you like print, then hang in there a few days.

If you prefer ebooks and like boxed sets, then you can jump the gun and buy your copy now.

Space Opera Science Fiction Novel

The full retail price for the ebook boxed set is $19.99 USD. Throughout the pre-order period and for a few days after release, you can get the set for $9.99 USD.

And here’s the other big news of the day:

All my science fiction is now available “wide”. That is, it’s no longer just available on Amazon or in Kindle Unlimited. It is available everywhere, in all retail stores, and on my own site, too.

I’ve had quite a few readers ask me about where they can get my books other than Amazon because they can’t or won’t buy from the Zon. Until now my answer was, alas, “nowhere”.

Now that has changed. You can get the books, including this boxed set, at whatever bookseller you prefer to use.

Selling them directly from my site (actually, from the Stories Rule Press site, but that’s really me) gives me lots of flexibility to offer discounts, coupons and temporary bundles and much more.

There’s also a huge bonus for you, if you buy directly from me: You get to keep the books.

I don’t add DRM protection to the books, and I don’t make you read them on a single app. You get to download the actual book file and add it to whatever your preferred reader is (yes, including Kindles). And if you close your account, you don’t automatically lose all your books the way you do with Amazon and the other major book sellers. You keep the books forever.

I use BookFunnel to provide the actual copies of the books you buy. Combined with their fantastic https://my.bookfunnel.com library function, it gives you complete control over your books.
