A new SF short story.

Boundary Shock Quarterly is a SF anthology that <gasp> publishes every season. They have a core roster of authors and occasionally reach out and invite guest authors.

I was invited to write for their “Lawmen and Crime Fighters” issue, which was released today.

My story introduces a brand new character: Ptolemy Jovan Lane, a unique type of peace maker who maintains the law in the domed city of Georgina’s Town, out in the fringes of known space.

The story is titled “The Body in the Zero Gee Brothel: A Ptolemy Lane Tale”. That title might cause you to wonder if there are more Ptolemy Lane tales out there. And the answer is yes. The second Ptolemy Lane tale will be appearing in a different anthology that comes out in January — more details on that when the time comes.

In the meantime, here’s a bit of a blurb to whet your appetite, and details about the Quarterly.

Meet Ptolemy Jovan Lane, a unique peacemaker.

Laws are hard to hold, out in the fringes of known space, but Ptolemy Lane is charged with maintaining peace under the dome of Georgina’s Town, among humans, the docile emre and more.

When a body is discovered in a zero gee suite in the local casino’s brothel wing, Lane is reluctant to get involved. The casino is off limits to his style of law keeping. Only, the body is the casino’s owner, Guisy Oakmint, and Doc Lowry is insisting Lane investigate. Lane soon learns why…

“The Body in the Zero Gee Brothel” is the first Ptolemy Lane story space opera science fiction series by award-winning SF author Cameron Cooper.

Space Opera Science Fiction Short Story

Praise for Cameron’s Science Fiction:

I am in awe of the writing ability and imagination of Cameron Cooper.

Before reading any of this author’s work, I would have stated I did not really like science fiction. THAT has changed.

Brilliant and intricate.

Twists and turns so you’re never really sure what is going on behind the scenes.

Boundary Shock Quarterly’s “Lawmen and Crime Fighters” is available at most retailers.
